State Advocacy Day 2025
The FIRST Wisconsin Advocacy Committee is please to announce we will be hosting our third annual State Advocacy Day on February 4th, 2025. At this event, teams will learn how to build and maintain relationships with local leaders, how to advocate for increased funding and decreasing the age limit for the DPI Robotics League Participation Grant, and more! Teams will then go to the Capitol to share more about the FIRST programs with their legislators.
Please reach out to Emma Schuff at eschuff@firstinspires.org with any questions regarding our advocacy efforts.
We understand that for some teams, commuting to Madison on a weekday is not an option. This year, we are excited to offer a remote advocacy day option for teams who are too far away to join us in person. For teams interested in attending Remote Advocacy Day, please fill out the remote attendance sign up, listed above.
The History of Advocacy in FIRST Wisconsin
The FIRST Wisconsin Advocacy Committee hosted our second annual State Advocacy Day on February 6th, 2024. At this event, teams were able to learn about how the state legislature works, how to build relationships with local leaders, and more! Teams then went to the Capitol to share more about the FIRST programs with their legislators.
The overall goal of this program is to provide legislators with the opportunity to learn about FIRST and encourage them to share this information with their communities. This will allow us to further grow the FIRST programs throughout Wisconsin.
On February 6th, 2021, the FIRST Wisconsin Advocacy Committee hosted their first State Advocacy Day.
This committee then hosted our first in-person State Advocacy Day on February 8th, 2023.

FIRST Wisconsin has been engaging in advocacy since 2017 through attendance at the National Advocacy Conference. After the 2019 National Advocacy Conference, participants of various FTC and FRC teams in Wisconsin formed the FIRST Wisconsin Advocacy Committee. Since their formation, the committee has been working to engage with our State Legislature through day-to-day work and planning and executing an annual FIRST Wisconsin State Advocacy Day.
