Have you heard about the FIRST Dean's List Award?
In an effort to recognize the leadership and dedication of FIRST’s most outstanding secondary school students, the Kamen family sponsors an award for selected 10th and 11th grade students known as the FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge Dean’s List. You can nominate 2 deserving students from your team, and they would become a Dean's list Semi-finalist for Wisconsin. The students would then be interviewed by a panel of judges and 3 students would be selected to represent the state at the FIRST World Championship in Houston.

The FIRST Wisconsin FTC Dean's List Submission Deadline is January 15th, 2025 at 10:59pm CT.
You can copy the deadline with FIRST Wisconsin specific notes via our FIRST Wisconsin Event Calendar and stay up to date on all deadlines for the local program.
Our "WI FTC Dean's List Interview Event" will take place between February 3rd -13th, it is a remote interview only event! Details on how to select an interview time will be shared on Friday, January 17th.

When the lead mentor or secondary mentor is in the dashboard, you can click on the team profile and view "Certificates & Awards", in the drop down you'll click "FTC Dean's List Award Submission" to come to this main page.
If you look to the left, you can see where you can submit the second nominee. As a reminder, parents of students on teams CAN NOT be the individual submitting the nomination to FIRST.
Only a mentor or coach of the team who is unrelated to the student being nominated can submit the nomination for the Dean’s List Award. This can either be done by the lead coach 1 or 2, or by a role called Dean’ List Award Submitter.
Lead Coach 1 and 2
The lead coaches 1 and 2 can make the nomination through the team dashboard. If a mentor or coach (who is not listed as the main or alternate contact in the team dashboard) would like to nominate a student for the Dean’s List Award, they can send the nomination essay and required information to the team’s lead coach 1 or 2 to be officially submitted through the team dashboard or be added as a Dean’s List Award Submitter (covered in the next section). All nominations must be entered through the system, any nominations sent straight to FIRST will not be considered.
In instances when a student’s parent(s) are listed as the lead coach 1 and 2, but the non-relative coach/mentor is writing the nomination, FIRST Tech Challenge has required that the non-relative mentor or coaches name be added to the end of the nomination essay. The name added to the end of the essay does count against the 4,000-character limit.
Dean’s List Award Submitter
The lead coach 1 or 2 has the option to add the role “Dean’s List Award Submitter” to the team to complete the nomination. Follow these steps to add this role to the team from the team’s dashboard.
From the firstinspires.org team dashboard, click “Manage Contacts”
Under “Team Leadership”, click “INVITE CONTACTS (LEGACY)” 11 of 19
Select “Mentor” and enter the persons full name and email address. Check the “I’m not a robot” box, and click “Send Invitation”.
The Dean’s List Award Submitter MUST accept the invitation, complete Youth Protection screening requirements, and have a signed consent and release on file prior to this step being completed. Select the “Dean’s List Award Submitter” button. This will allow the user to follow the next set of instructions and nominate a student.
Be sure to click the SAVE button at the bottom of the page once you answer all of the questions about your nominee. Once saved, the nomination will be automatically submitted on the 15th of the month before the event.
The deadline to submit your nominee is JANUARY 15th at 10:59PM CT!
