Prepare for FTC Event Preferencing

With event preferencing around the corner FIRST Wisconsin would like to share a few reminders and upcoming deadlines for FTC Coaches:

Update all Team Information in the FIRST dashboard. 

At your earliest convenience please make sure contacts for Lead Mentor 1 and Lead Mentor 2 are up-to-date in the FIRST Dashboard (image below), as this is an important tool for us to send out information regarding FTC Events in the state.

How does Event Preferencing work?

This season, like last season, FIRST Wisconsin is using a preferencing system for teams selecting the events they want to attend. The preference-based system is intended to make event slot distribution fairer and more convenient for teams.

Under this system, all FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Wisconsin will have one week, beginning on Wednesday, October 2nd at 3pm CT, to rank their event preferences and submit the form. It doesn’t matter when you submit your preferences during the week, as long as they are received by the deadline of Wednesday, October 9th at 11:59pm CT. Every team has an equal opportunity, regardless of when their submission is made within this period.

This gives our teams a week to submit their order of preference for their first two qualifying tournaments.

What is the timing of Event Preferencing?

An email will be sent out to FTC Lead Mentor 1 and 2 on Wednesday, October 2nd, it will include a link to a form for each team to use to select their events. The form opens for submissions starting at 3pm CT on Wednesday, October 2nd and closes Wednesday, October 9th at 11:59pm CT.

Note: Please submit one form per team, if a team submits more than one form before the deadline, we will default to the latest submitted form for the team.

Teams will then be matched with their first two Qualifying Tournament events. Teams will find out their placement on Monday, October 14th at no later than 10pm CT.

• Feb 1st - Brookfield

• Feb 2nd – Brookfield (Rookie Event- Invite only)

• Feb 8th – La Crosse

FIRST® Tech Challenge INTO THE DEEP℠ State Championship

• Friday, March 7th - Saturday, March 8th

• Milwaukee School of Engineering - Kern Center

• Judging & Inspecting starts Friday afternoon

• Matches begin Saturday morning
